The Model 2A Thermocouple Sensor tube consists of a tube containinga filament heated by the passage of a constant current. Athermocouple is welded to the center of this heated element therebyproviding a means of directly measuring the element temperature interms of voltage output. For any constant value of current throughthe filament, the temperature of the filament increases as thepressure in the tube is reduced. The thermocouple voltage isdirectly proportional to the increased temperature of the filament,and thus generates an increase in voltage. Sensitive circuitryincludes the thermocouple output directly in microns. The standardsensor tube has nickel-plated, forged-brass housing which makes itcapable of withstanding 150 psi overpressure. All thermocoupleelements are preoxidized under controlled conditions to provideinterchangeability of tubes without recalibration. This processalso provides high stability and minimizes the effect ofcontamination. Stainless steel versions are available.
