The“Cypher”is an advanced survey instrument. It is very user friendlyand usesdigital technology to greatly enhance its operation. Itworks withmost GM, proportional, and scintillator probes anddisplays theinformation on a backlit alphanumeric LCD. The displayhas a movingpointer bargraph that closely approximates a metermovement. It issmooth, easy to read and accurate. The digitallevel and thebargraph scale are also shown on the display.
The instrument has many different modes including rate, integrate, and scaler. Each mode is independently programmable andmay beturned off. It can be set up as a simple ratemeter with onlyonemode or it can be set up for all 6 modes. Thus it can beeasilyadjusted to suit your application. If that applicationchanges itis easy to reconfigure for a new one. This instrumenthelps you getthe readings you want. It is difficult to misread thedata with theunits and range information shown right on thedisplay.
The 4 soft-key buttons on the front panel operate theinstrument. The two on the right are user defined. One user may wantto usethem for light and beeper while another may want to use themforrange hold and reset. The soft-keys also help to simplifytheoperation of the instrument. There is only one level ofdisplay;you are never lost in a maze of menus.
The digital nature of the instrument means that setup, calibrationand maintenance are greatly simplified. Many of theoperational andcalibration functions can be controlled or set fromeither thefront panel or the inside panel or both. The accuracy ofthe datais assured by a crystal controlled timebase and theswitchabledeadtime correction extends the linear range ofmostprobes.
The “Cypher” survey instrument is small, rugged, and light. Itissimple to operate, loaded with features and programmable foreithersimple or advanced uses. It is the perfect allaroundinstrument.
